WikiForAll

WikiForAll is a series of training programs designed to train students on Wikimedia’s Technical platforms. By doing this training for the students we believe that the students will learn about how to apply their technical skills for developing Wikimedia projects. Moreover, this will also help the students to develop the core technical skills and programming languages that can help them to pursue careers in tech and also add more value to their portfolio. This way the students are also introduced to Open Knowledge projects, culture and ecosystem.

Objective

The primary objective of the WikiForAll program is to make Accessibility as the centric point of contribution across Wikimedia projects. That is we want to make everyone to participate in the Open Knowledge movements without any limitations or lines that would hinder the participatory gaps. This initiative starts with the training and development programs focussed on students who belong to the younger generation of this society. We believe that this active community of students when given right skills in the right time then they would be capable of outreaching their knowledge in a better way to many others. We plan to extend our programs in future to mimic similar communities across different generations and groups of this society and address their challenges to Access the Open Source/Open Knowledge platforms. Let this be a small start for a futuristic mindful technology development in the FOSS communities.
