In partnership with communities from Iraq, Nigeria, India, and Mexico, the Wikimedia Foundation has been working to increase awareness of Wikipedia through online marketing campaigns.
To support other community efforts, in January 2018, the Foundation launched an Inspire campaign which ended with 424 ideas for community projects to increase awareness of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. We funded 8 such projects in March 2018 across Africa and Asia.
The session will be a panel discussion in which we will invite some of these community members to share the outcome of these efforts.
- What will attendees take away from this session?
Attendees will learn about the efforts being made by the WMF and communities around the world to raise awareness for Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. They will also learn that they can themselves apply for grants to raise awareness for Wikipedia in their regions.
