- Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
I will talk about:
- What are World Heritage Sites, intangible cultural heritage, the Memory of the World Programme, UNESCO biospheres and UNESCO Global Geoparcs and what are the criteria that sites and culture have to fulfill to be recognized?
- What can a collaboration with UNESCO look like for a Wikipedian or Wikimedian? With examples from Wiki Loves Earth and the projects of Wikimedians in Residence in Paris (2015) and Rotterdam (2017).
- In a UNICEF workshop this year I got officially recognized by UNESCO as a cultural Wiki ambassador. I will explain the process of becoming one.
- There are 1092 Heritage Sites worldwide. 47% of these sites are in Europe and North America. 54 of the worldwide heritage sites are on the list of endangered sites. Of these 54 endangered sites 41% are in Arab countries and 30% are in Africa. How you can safe these important sites for eternity by documenting them for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons?
