Wiki Indaba Conference is the regional conference for African Wikimedians from both on the continent and in the diaspora. The first edition was held in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2014 by Wikimedia ZA. In 2017 the conference moved to Accra, Ghana, and was organized by Open Foundation West Africa. The 2018 edition was held in Tunis, Tunisia by Wikimedia TN Usergroup, while the Wikimedia UG Nigeria arranged the 2019 in the federal capital, Abuja, FCT. The 2020 edition of the conference was supposed to be held in Kampala, Uganda but was postponed and became a virtual event hosted in 2021 by the Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda. The 2022 edition took place in Kigali, Rwanda, and was hosted by The Wikimedia Community User Group Rwanda. In 2023, it took place in Agadir, Morocco, and was hosted by the Wikimedia Morocco User Group. The last edition, which took place in 2024, marking the 8th edition and 10th year anniversary of the conference, took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was organized by Wikimedia ZA under the theme "!ke e: /xarra //ke," which means "United in diversity".
The WikiIndaba 2025 conference is hosted by Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania, and will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The 2025 conference theme is "Tuungane na Tukue Pamoja!," which in English means "Let's unite and grow together!"
