WikiMaknyus is a development of the WikiTuPrèt èn WikiPerkawi project that was successfully implemented by Jakarta Wikimedia Community with a support from Wikimedia Indonesia. This program, especially WikiTuPrèt, is an effort to document Betawi cuisine around Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bekasi. The documentation was done through photographs and information editing in Betawi Wikipedia and Indonesian Wikipedia.
WikiMaknyus takes that program with a broader coverage, that is traditional cuisine in other locations (see: Location). Besides, editing target also increases; not only in Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia in local languages, but also in Wiktionary (about local words related to foods, spices, and the recipe), Wikibooks (for the recipe of the cuisines), to Wikivoyage (for travel guide to the destination place) and Wikidata (for the data related to the cuisines).
Goals and benefits

[edit]The goal for WikiMaknyus is to increase the number of information regarding traditional cuisines in several locations. This will be achieved by:
- Photographing traditional food: We will photograph unique traditional food on each targeted location to visualize the looks of the cuisines.
- Collaborating with local community: We will collaborate with local Wikimedia community and/or Wikimedians to get the accurate information and translation related to the foods' name, recipe, and others.
- Multilingual Wikimedia projects: The information will be published through multilingual Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, Wiktionary, and Wikibooks for several language editions.
Benefits
[edit]From the above goals, then this project aims to achieve several main benefits, such as:
- Improvement of knowledge in traditional cuisines: Improving number and content of articles related to traditional cuisines from several regions, including their recipes.
- Improvement of Wikimedia projects in local language: Improving number of articles, lemmas, and entries to Wikimedia projects in local languages of the partner location and digitalizing words and local knowledges.
- Community engagement and skill development: Improving local community engagement and Wikimedia projects in local languages and developing their skills in improving and writing articles, lemmas, and entries on Wikimedia projects.
- Knowledge equity: Decreasing knowledge gap about local culture, especially in local foods and beverages.
