WikiMediterranean

Mediterranean Meetup at Wikimania 2026

WikiMediterranean is an informal group of Wikimedians interested in collaboration on content and projects among regions around the Mediterranean.

The group was formed at Wikimania 2026 in Paris at the occasion of the Mediterranean meetup held by Auregann (Sicily, Italy) and user:ToniSant (Malta).

The goals of the group are to create more connections between the countries and regions around the Mediterranean Sea, for example:

• Editing contests on topics related to the culture, geography, history... of Mediterranean regions
• Translation campaigns to encourage editors to translate Wikipedia articles in their languages
• Community engagement around existing photo contests such as Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves Folklore, Wiki Loves Living Heritage...
• Organization of community events
