WikiTutur 3.0 in Malang was a language documentation workshop event held in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, on 1 November 2025. This workshop event was conducted as part of WikiTutur 3.0, through the collaboration between KlubWiki Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesian Wiktionary Community, Perdukunan Tengger, and Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Brawijaya University focusing on Tenggerese.

Activity summary

  • Workshop session began with a presentation from the trainers. This session includes an introduction to the Wikimedia movement, WikiTutur program, Wiktionary, and Lingua Libre as a language documentation tool. Brief tutorials on recording linguistic data with Lingua Libre and contributing to Indonesian Wiktionary were also presented.
  • Structured data collection and recording in 5 groups, each group focusing on different dialects. All of them new to Wikimedia movement and unfamiliar with Wikimedia projects, so the recording process were assisted by the trainers.
  • Due to a problem with uploading on LinguaLibre (technical error due to poor internet connection), some participant failed to upload the audio that had been recorded. Participants who fail to upload are encouraged to try again after event.
  • The final hour was dedicated to make entries and inputting audio files into Indonesian Wiktionary entries. From . . . participants, apart from the trainer and the trainer assistants, a total of . . . pages were created in Indonesia Wiktionary. Due to time constraints, not all entries can be created, though the participants were encouraged to update the entries on their own after the event.
