WikiVerse Botswana is a collaborative initiative dedicated to expanding Botswana’s presence on open-source knowledge platforms such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Wikiquote. Our mission is to document, preserve, and share accurate information about Botswana’s climate action, sustainability efforts, history, and cultural heritage, ensuring that these narratives are accessible to a global audience.
Through WikiVerse Botswana, we empower individuals especially youth and climate advocates to contribute factual and well-sourced content that enhances knowledge accessibility. By creating and improving Wikipedia articles, uploading multimedia content, and structuring data on Wikidata, we bridge information gaps and ensure Botswana’s stories are recorded for future generations.
Our work extends beyond documentation, we foster digital literacy, encourage community participation, and support collaborations with researchers, policymakers, and educators. By making local insights widely available, we strengthen advocacy efforts and contribute to a more informed and engaged society.
Recent activities
[edit]We recently celebrated the World Environment Day by pruning fruit trees that were planted through an initiative of 1 Million Tree Planting Campaign in efforts to address issues of Climate Change.
