Wikipedia is heavily used in Sweden, with 9 million inhabitants generating 4.4 million page views per day, or 131 million page views per month during 2011.[1] Of these page views, 40% go to the English Wikipedia, while 55% go to the Swedish language Wikipedia.[2] In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikipedia was ranked the 6th most popular site in the country.[3] In December 2011, there were 4,180 women of all ages from Sweden who were interested in Wikipedia.[1]

In the Swedish language version of Wikipedia, separate categories for biographic articles by gender were introduced in 2008, which is how we know that there are four times as many articles about men (101,772) than articles about women (23,593). As shown by the graph, the ratio is 1:3 for living people (A), while it is 1:10 for the early 19th century (B). There is a project to write about notable women: sv:Wikipedia:Projekt kvinnor.

On English Wikipedia, there are 2 articles about roller derby leagues from this country. There are 3 articles about women's basketball teams in this country on French Wikipedia. There are 21 articles about women's association football clubs in this country on English Wikipedia. There are 66 articles about models from this country on English Wikipedia. Annika Sörenstam is an article about a Swedish golfer. It is an A-Class Article, one of the highest assessment types for articles on English Wikipedia.
