Minutes[edit]

Four members of the User Group (UG) met live for this first meetup. We discussed many ideas for potential activities, including connecting current cemetery articles and people buried there / monuments to Wikidata, potentially integrating QR codes on the local level, working across other Affiliates for local events where we can partner on various editathons and projects (such as various activities with Wikimedia New York City and Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn (U.S.), having Wikimedia meetups in Cemeteries which would potentially allow for outdoor gathering spots ith social distancing during COVID, and developing a WikiProject Cemeteries (since the closest WikiProject, WikiProject Death, may be a little more broad than the focus of this UG).

As a first step, we agreed will will explore creating a WikiProject Cemeteries, as that will be something tangible for people in the UG to focus upon and generate awareness beyond the group itself.
