[edit]Image Post-Processing Workshop 03 is the third edition of the hands-on post-processing workshop series organized by Wiki Club SATI. Building upon the foundations from Workshop 01 and Workshop 02, this edition expands its scope to cover post-processing of images, videos, and audio — using primarily free and open-source software (FOSS).
Overview
[edit]This workshop is designed for Wikimedia contributors, photographers, videographers, and anyone interested in improving the quality of their media files for use on Wikimedia Commons and other open platforms. Participants will gain practical experience in editing and enhancing media using open-source tools, making skills accessible to everyone regardless of financial resources.

Objectives
[edit]- To teach participants the fundamentals and advanced techniques of image post-processing for Wikimedia Commons uploads.
- To introduce video post-processing workflows suitable for open media projects.
- To cover the basics of audio post-processing for multimedia contributions.
- To promote the use of free and open-source software (FOSS) in media editing.
- To improve the overall quality of media contributions to Wikimedia projects.
Scope of the Workshop
[edit]Image Post-Processing
[edit]Participants will learn how to:
- Crop, straighten, and resize images for Commons standards
- Adjust exposure, contrast, white balance, and colour grading
- Remove noise, sharpen details, and correct lens distortion
- Export in appropriate formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP) with correct metadata (EXIF/IPTC)
- Work with RAW files and batch processing
Primary Tool: GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
Supporting Tools: Darktable, RawTherapee, ImageMagick
Video Post-Processing
[edit]Participants will learn how to:
- Trim, cut, and arrange video clips on a timeline
- Colour correct and grade footage for visual consistency
- Add subtitles, titles, and lower thirds
- Compress and export video in open formats (OGV, WebM, MP4)
- Stabilise shaky footage and apply basic effects

Supporting Tools: OpenShot, Shotcut, HandBrake, FFmpeg
Audio Post-Processing
[edit]Participants will learn how to:
- Remove background noise and hum from recordings
- Normalise audio levels and apply dynamic compression
- Edit, trim, and arrange audio clips
- Export in open formats (OGG, FLAC, WAV, MP3)
- Add fade in/out and basic sound effects

Supporting Tools: Ardour, ocenaudio, FFmpeg
