Wiki Club SATI/Events/World Book Day
About
[edit]To mark World Book Day, Wiki Club SATI is hosting its first session centered around books and reading, bringing people together to talk about the books that stayed with them, the ones they loved, and even the ones they did not.
The session will also explore the growing importance of digitalization in making knowledge more accessible and preserving literary works, while creating a space for open conversations, fresh perspectives, and shared enthusiasm for books.
About World Book Day
[edit]World Book Day (also known as World Book and Copyright Day) is an annual celebration, held on April 23rd, organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and copyright.
It has been observed worldwide since 1995 (well before 1995) to encourage literacy through the establishment of literacy centers based upon a country's resources (or what a country has in terms of technology) to provide access to books and promote literacy. Each year since then, UNESCO has designated one World Book Capital where they will coordinate events related to reading and showcase the significance of books within their societies.
