WikiClub Tech SHUATS
[edit]WikiClub Tech SHUATS is a student-driven community based in Prayagraj, India. It was founded on October 2024 by the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (DCSIT) at the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Prayagraj.
The club’s primary goal is to help students, newcomers, and professionals get started with contributions to the Wikimedia Movement, covering both technical and non-technical aspects.
Objectives
[edit]- Promote free knowledge and open-source contribution culture.
- Provide guidance for technical Wikimedia contributions such as Gerrit, Phabricator, and Toolforge.
- Support non-technical contributions to projects like Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons.
- Conduct mentorship programs, workshops, and hands-on sessions for new contributors.
- Build a sustainable local community of Wikimedia contributors in Prayagraj.
Activities

- Introduction sessions on Wikimedia projects.
- Workshops on editing Wikipedia and contributing to Wikidata.

Founding and History
[edit]- The Wiki Club SHUATS was founded on 14 October 2024 at SHUATS, Prayagraj.
- Initiated by the Department of Computer Science and IT (DCSIT) with the aim of creating a bridge between academia and the Wikimedia community.
- The club was established during an era when Wikimedia outreach programs in India were expanding, particularly focused on student engagement.
