Wiki Knowledge Park/Events/2025/Training to the Maldives team to start a user group
In collaboration with Edume team, WikiKnowledge Park successfully organized a training programme for Wikimedia volunteers who live in the Maldives.The programme aimed to empower volunteers with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to the Wikimedia movement, emphasizing the importance of open knowledge and knowledge preservation.

[edit]A total of 10 participants from the Maldives attended the training programme. The participants represented a diverse group of individuals passionate about contributing to Wikimedia projects and promoting open knowledge in their region.

The session began with a discussion on the critical role of Wikimedia volunteers in promoting open knowledge and preserving cultural and educational resources. The facilitators highlighted how volunteers contribute to the global Wikimedia ecosystem by creating, editing, and curating content on various Wikimedia platforms.
- Activities of Wikimedia User Groups and Affiliates
Participants were introduced to the diverse activities undertaken by different Wikimedia user groups and affiliates worldwide. Examples included edit-a-thons, workshops, and community-building initiatives aimed at expanding the reach of free knowledge.
- Interactive Discussions
The programme included interactive discussions where participants asked their doubts and shared their experiences, challenges, and ideas for contributing to Wikimedia projects. Future Plans

WikiKnowledge Park and the Edume team plan to organize additional training sessions, workshops, and collaborative projects to further support the volunteers in their efforts to contribute to Wikimedia projects.
