Wiki Loves AfroLiterature is a global initiative to document and celebrate African and Afro-diasporic literary voices. From oral epics to digital poetry, the campaign invites contributors to enrich Wikimedia projects with knowledge about Black literature, authors, publishers, movements, and stories.
Everyone is welcome! Whether you are an experienced Wikimedian, a literature lover, an educator, a student, or part of a cultural institution — your contribution is valuable. No prior editing experience is necessary. We provide training, toolkits, and mentorship.
You can create or improve Wikipedia articles, add data to Wikidata, upload literary media to Commons, or transcribe texts on Wikisource. Topics include authors, books, publishing houses, literary awards, oral literature, especially those underrepresented online.
Contributions are encouraged in all languages, especially African and diaspora languages such as Yoruba, Swahili, Haitian Creole, Arabic, Portuguese, and French. We believe in amplifying literary voices in the languages they live in.
You can join the official Outreach Dashboard to track your edits. If you're participating in contests or events, your edits might also be counted through Fountain or by using the hashtag #WikiLovesAfroLit.
