Wiki Loves Quotes 2026
Wiki Loves Quotes is a contest to write and improve articles for the Wikiquote. It will be held across wiki projects from August 15 to September 15, 2026. The event is organized by dedicated Wikimedia Foundation volunteers who have found the time and motivation to host it.
Goals

- Expand and improve Wikiquote
- Develop international cooperation among Wikimedians working on Wikiquote
How to participate in Wiki Loves Quotes 2026?
[edit]As an Editor
[edit]- Find the language version of Wikiquote you would like to edit, if participating.
- Read the editing rules carefully.
- Select and begin creating or contributing to articles.
- Register at any time during the month of the contest.
- If you have any questions, please ask on the Help Desk page.
As an Organizer
[edit]- Recruit a local team of campaign organizers; we recommend no more than 5 people.
- Create an event page, run the contest locally within your language community, and create a Fountain tool for the campaign by adding a link to your campaign on the Registration and Participation page.
- Rate participants articles using the Fountain tool.
- If necessary, ask questions on the Help Desk page.
The editing rules and the auditing of eligible editors
[edit]- To receive one point for a relevant edit, you must edit/create an article of at least 3,000 bytes using reliable sources. Creating/editing a list also counts.
- Once you earn 5 points, you are eligible to receive the Barnstar of the Year award. Each Wikipedia language campaign's judges review the edit's compliance with the criteria for receiving one point.
Timetable
[edit]- By August 14, 2026: Registration for each language Wikiquote closes.
- August 15, 00:00 UTC - September 15, 2026, 00:00 UTC: Campaign launch. (Check the campaign date in your region.)
- September 15 - 30, 2026: Audit of each language version. The international team will present Barnstar awards to the editors of each event.
