Wiki Loves Schools
Wiki Loves Schools is a campaign dedicated to expand, improve, and illustrate articles about schools across all Wikimedia projects. The campaign aims to bring together Wikimedia communities, educators, and students to build a comprehensive, open database of information about educational institutions worldwide.
For this first edition, we are specifically focusing on schools in the state of Kerala, India.
Goals
[edit]- Wikipedia Articles: Increase the number of articles about schools on Wikipedia in all languages.
- Content Improvement: Enhance the quality of existing school articles by adding reliable citations, expanding sections, removing stubs and add quality images.
- Media Integration: Populate Wikimedia Commons with freely licensed images and media of schools to be used in articles.
- Data Enrichment: Improve school data on Wikidata by adding relevant properties and identifiers.
- Community Engagement: Foster collaboration between different language communities and encourage new editors to contribute.
How to Participate
[edit]On Wikipedia:
- Create new articles for schools that don't have one yet.
- Expand existing school stubs.
- Add citations from reliable sources to improve article quality.
- Translate school articles into other languages.
On Wikimedia Commons:
Upload images of schools. See the commons:Commons:Wiki Loves Schools for full details on what to upload and how.
On Wikidata:
- Create or enrich Wikidata items for schools. (15000 Schools added)
- Add properties like location, date of establishment, and other relevant information.
