The first session for the Wiki Loves Women 2021 in Kenya Libraries Project took place on 17th September 2021 at UMMA University in Kajiado, Kenya. The aim of the first meet-up session was to introduce the participants to Wikipedia for the majority of new editors and to specifically introduce to all participants to Wiki Loves Women #SheSaid Campaign.

Outcomes[edit]

  • 11 participants (6 women and 5 men. Two of them had contributed to Wikipedia. 8 were new editors)
  • The participants created their Wikipedia accounts and profiles
  • Participants were able to learn about notability and identify notable people
  • 12 prominent Kenya women identified for their Wikipedia articles to be created
  • 9 Wikidata entries of Kenya Women created
  • Each participant made at least 2 edits on Wikipedia

  • 9 participants attended all from the first session.
  • The participants had problems in identifying images to upload and we did practically on how to identify images from the internet.
  • The participants also wanted to understand well on how to create wiki quotes and we had a session focusing on how to create wiki quotes.
