Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective/2026 Meetups
The 2026 community meetups of the Wiki Niger Delta Heritage Collective are designed to bring together community members, and new participants from the Niger Delta region and beyond to share knowledge, learn new skills, and collaborate on Wikimedia projects. Throughout the year, the meetups will focus on building the capacity of community members to document local culture, heritage, and diversity through Wikimedia Commons, and other Wiki projects. Each session will provide a mix of learning, hands-on editing, and discussions aimed at improving the representation of the Niger Delta on Wikimedia projects. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and develop initiatives that promote free knowledge.
Where
[edit]The 2026 meetups welcomes collaboration with affiliate, communities, and groups within and outside the movement. It will take place in different cities across the Niger Delta, featuring themed sessions such as photography, editing, cultural documentation, and open licensing. Each event will align with the broader goals of increasing local participation and improving content related to the region’s people, culture, and environment.
