On December 18, 2024, the "Wiki for She" group was officially launched to coincide with en:UN Arabic Language Day. Initiated by user Mervat, the group aims to unite female contributors to Arabic Wikipedia in a supportive space where they can share knowledge, exchange life experiences, and develop skills to enhance their contributions within the Wikimedia movement.

The group was brought to life with the valuable support of Afeq, Ravan, Rotana, and Walaa.

We warmly invite all active female contributors to Arabic Wikipedia, as well as newcomers eager to begin their journey in volunteer work, to join us in realizing the group's mission and contributing to the broader vision of the Wikimedia movement

Vision

Our vision aligns with the Wikimedia Movement’s vision: “A world in which every single human can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.” The group is committed to the core principles of Wikipedia, including neutrality, reliability, respect for copyright, and adherence to community policies. It emphasizes the values of collaboration, inclusivity, and respect

Mission

Empowering women to enrich Wikipedia by developing their life and professional skills, and expanding their horizons in creating and promoting awareness of free content. The group also supports volunteer initiatives that contribute to bridging the knowledge gap.

Objectives

• Creating a collaborative and supportive environment for female volunteers to contribute knowledge in Arabic.
• Empowering volunteers by developing their skills and engaging them confidently and competently in regional and global communities.
• Increasing the number of active female editors on Wikipedia.
• Improving the quality of Arabic content and enriching it with diverse topics.
• Organizing workshops and training sessions to develop various skills in alignment with the group’s vision and mission.
