Wiki for Sustainable Futures 2026. Knowledge to transform: Water, Food and Energy

The 2026 edition of the “Wiki for Sustainable Futures” campaign invites everyone to contribute knowledge that helps build futures worth living. Under the theme "Knowledge to Transform: Water, Food, Energy", we want to connect current global policy discussions to national and local realities.

Wikipedia offers an unique platform for online volunteering on public knowledge topics that are more urgent than ever. Water, food and energy are deeply affected by the triple planetary crisis, and they are part of everyone's daily realities. You don’t need to be a specialist in technical international treaties to know that local water sources are drying up, that the energy landscape is changing, and that the prices of food keep on increasing.

Sustainable futures requires us to have contextual knowledge that can change our relationship with water, transform how we grow our food, and move away from fossil fuels and into cleaner energies to power our societies. What's the relationship of our communities with water, food and energy, and what needs to change for more sustainable futures? Help us document these local realities and solutions on Wikipedia.

To transform and adapt to global crises, we will need reliable, accessible, local, contextual knowledge. By editing Wikipedia, we turn obscure PDFs into usable data, we bring indigenous languages to the Internet, and we translate the climate crisis into the language of the everyday. By editing Wikipedia on these topics, we are promoting information integrity on public interest knowledge. Are you ready? Join us!
