[edit]- Federated Values Demo

- https://github.com/lorenjohnson/mediawiki-extensions-Wikibase/pull/2 (to be upstreamed and reviewed in Gerrit)
- Federated Properties code to be removed: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T379916
- Discussion of card sorting research on data governance
Notes
[edit]- What is the search experience? Do they show up in local search? (Currently excluded)
- What is the update/syncing experience? Currently thought about a maintenance script (GR pushed for live, or at least an indicator of staleness)
- Updating an item will update all the same item remote item, but a separate remote item would still be stale
- Intention is standalone Wikibases via Suite and at some point Wikibase Cloud (~Q1? MW 1.43 still TBA), consuming data from Wikidata currently but may want to draw from other wikibases. Not currently planned to have Wikidata pulling for someone else. Currently one Wikibase drawn from (?)
- Question of WDQS will probably not be explored in this MVP, but on to-do list.
- Actually, will push to have something in e.g. Turtle outptut because otherwise you have an incomplete item

[edit]GreenReaper: Definitely want some Ward Cunningham in there as well! 16:15 Ismael Olea: Sorry, I missed something: WB looks in WD by default or because how the property has been created? 16:17 GreenReaper: Feels like you are able to do remote database searches for e.g. multiple languages in MediaWiki (although in practice Wikipedia doesn't do that). The difference being that is a direct and immediate database query. 16:18 Ismael Olea: Do you have a demo in the internet to play a bit with? 16:22 GreenReaper: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T379916 is the task for that ❤️ 16:23 Leif Lobinsky - Wikibase @ wmde: We plan a public demo instance for the community in the beginning of next year @Ismael 👍 16:28 Ismael Olea: How stable it's the code? In order to run in our testing server with real data. 16:30 Loren Johnson (WMDE): @Ismael it is being built to be production ready, but testing and review is still in progress. I think what is here so far is in a pretty good place. 16:32 Ismael Olea: @Loren can we use from the github repo? 16:33 Ismael Olea: is this maybe? https://github.com/lorenjohnson/mediawiki-extensions-Wikibase/pull/2 👍 16:38 Leif Lobinsky - Wikibase @ wmde: I have some notes and will another brain dump afterwards ❤️
