- Abstract
Wikis and especially Wikipedia has been used in schools and universities essentially in three different ways:
- as a knowledge resource for direct reception/uptake;
- as an object to study;
- as a learning platform for writing activities.
The presentation introduces a model to describe wikis and the use of wikis. It discusses some major challenges of the use in educational contexts. A wiki is a medium with its proper features and expectations - sometimes theses expectations, originating in a culture of volunteers, do not fit automatically in an educational context.
This presentation is based on a German paper appearing in 2019.
