A scholarship is a grant given to an individual to enable them to attend the Wikimedia+Libraries Convention July 23 and 24 in Maynooth, Ireland. This is achieved through the Wikimedia Foundation providing funds that will cover accommodation and transportation (for full scholarships), and travel or accommodations (for partial scholarships).

Who is eligible for a scholarship? Any active contributor to a Wikimedia project or Wikimedia volunteer in any other capacity, from anywhere in the world, is considered eligible for a scholarship. All applications that are eligible for a scholarship will be reviewed by the scholarship committee with an in-depth evaluation.

A total of 20 full scholarships were awarded. Additional partial scholarships were awarded, based on funding. Scholarships were given to participants based on the information provided in the application about their previous experiences and current engagement. This meetup is intended to be “international” in scope, therefore to ensure the broadest global distribution of scholarships, the number of full scholarships was limited to a maximum of four for any one country.
