| Overview | Goal #1 | Goal #2 | Goal #3 | Goal #4 | Goal #5 |
Kia ora, thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on our strategic plan. We are no longer monitoring these pages, so please direct any further feedback to info@wikimedia.nz.

As a newly recognised chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand (WANZ) are looking ahead to the next few years to think about what we’d like to achieve, and what we need to do in order to make that happen. We’re looking for feedback into our strategic plan from editors all across Aotearoa, so that we can make sure we’re meeting the needs of New Zealand’s editing community.
How to provide feedback:
- Please use the relevant discussion pages to add your comments, questions and suggestions
- You can also contact us directly at info@wikimedia.nz
- We’re also running a regular discussion session after each of our online meetups, if you’d like to chat with WANZ board members about the plan
Strategy background
[edit]We have updated our Mission and Strategic Goals after an in-person strategy weekend with the WANZ Board and staff. We worked with an external facilitator on the topic of engaging with Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Our values have remained consistent:
- Altruism
- Humility
- Collaboration
- Appreciation
- Inclusion
- Equity
Our vision, the same as the Wikimedia Foundation — Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge – and our mission are aligned with the Wikimedia movement as a whole:
- To empower and engage people to collect and develop educational content under a free licence or in the public domain.
- To represent the Aotearoa New Zealand contributors to Wikimedia projects.
- To provide funding and training support to our members and the public.
- To develop and maintain partnerships with aligned institutions.
- To strive for equity and diversity of our movement with a focus on Te Ao Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Our priority work over the next five years has five strategic goals. We encourage you to use the relevant discussion pages to add your comments, questions and suggestions. We want to ensure we reflect the views of the community we represent.
