Diversity policy of Wikimedia Argentina[edit]

Education and Human Rights program[edit]

Wikimedia Argentina will promote participatory spaces of work, which favor even and equal inclusion of men and women

  • Wikimedia Argentina will not work with institutions or educational spaces which are gender exclusive or promote exclusion policies.
  • Wikimedia Argentina will work towards the parity of boys and girls as recipients of our Education Program
  • Wikimedia Argentina will develop proposals, such as the online course, which consider the different time availability of men and women (still a real issue in the subject of equality between genders) to allow for both to have the same opportunities to receive training.
  • To the extent of its possibilities, Wikimedia Argentina will promote parity in the ratios shown in terms of editors retention
  • Wikimedia Argentina will apply the positive discrimination theory in regard to the access to its activities and education projects, with the aim to favor participation from all social backgrounds.
  • WMAR’s treatment of each of its counterparts, educators and students will be even, equal and non-discriminatory.

Wikimedia Argentina will work to position debate on the gender issue within the public agenda.

  • Through its Education Program, Wikimedia Argentina, will position the debate on the subject of gender inequality and on the role of women as builders of knowledge, within the public agenda.
  • The subject of gender inequality will be present in each of the conferences and congresses where WMAR has an active participation.

Quality and gender-responsive content and evaluation

  • Whenever applicable, the Education Program will promote the generation of content on the basis of respect to gender equality and equity.
  • All the activities from the Education Program will be evaluate following the gender & diversity indicators.

Strategic alliances

  • In the frame of the Education Program, WMAR will only make strategic alliances with schools and higher education institutions which promote gender inclusive policies.
  • Exhibition workshops on the subject will be organized whenever necessary at our partner institutions, as a condition to move forward in our actions.

Culture and Open Knowledge program[edit]

The GLAM projects: promoters of gender equality, inclusive spaces for minorities, and quality and gender-responsive content

  • WMAR will implement its strategic line of construction of the Argentine identity and memory and diversity through their activities
  • The proposals and initiatives of the program are adapted to the time availability of both men and women, to favor even participations of both genders.
  • WMAR’s treatment of each of its counterparts will be even, equal and non-discriminatory.

Wikimedia Argentina will aim to position the issues of gender equality and social diversity inclusion within the public agenda

  • Wikimedia Argentina, will use the program to position the gender issue and the role of women as builders of knowledge, in the public agenda.
  • The debate on gender equality will be introduced into each of the conferences and congresses where WMAR has active participation.
  • During its participation in congresses and conferences, WMAR will include specific spaces for the promotion of culture as the key actor for the generation of an inclusive society.

Strategic alliances

Inclusion and Cooperation program[edit]

To improve the level of participation of women in community meetings

  • Wikimedia Argentina will promote the participation of women, non binary people, queer and other underrepresented communities in our community.
  • We will promote diverse leadership within our community
  • Underrepresented communities' participation will be encouraged whenever necessary, through mobility grants awarded on equal terms for men and women.
  • We will support projects put forward by diverse and underrepresented communities.
  • WMAR follows inclusive staff policies and aims for parity of men and women in the composition of its Board.
  • WMAR’s treatment of each of its counterparts will be even, equal and non-discriminatory.

To favor gender-responsibility training in the community

  • Training courses to build a more inclusive and committed community on diversity.
  • Build safe spaces and easy and accesible channels of reporting
  • Design diverse opportunities to participate and become part of WMAR's community.

Creation of gender-sensitive content.

  • All new material designed and produced by WMAR will be sensitive to gender both in content and vocabulary.

Strategic alliances.

  • WMAR will only make strategic alliances with local institutions which promote gender inclusive policies.
  • Exhibition workshops on the subject will be organized whenever necessary at our partner institutions, as a condition to move forward in our actions.

Human Rights Policy of Wikimedia Argentina[edit]

Wikimedia Argentina will promote diversity in Wikimedia projects by promoting the themes of Human Rights, argentine culture and identity as quality content

  • Wikimedia Argentina will work on these themes by getting involved with benchmark Human Rights institutions in our country.
  • Wikimedia Argentina will promote interdisciplinary work with specialized professionals and references in the field of Human Rights. Researchers, journalists, survivors, relatives of victims.
  • In our events, we will present the theoretical line of work that records the history of Human Rights organizations in the region.
  • We will organize editing events to update the existing Wikipedia content related to crimes against humanity in the region.
  • We will especially encourage work related to the right to identity, particularly with high school students.
  • We will encourage the use of judicial sources that account for the trials that have taken place in Argentina.
  • We will work in the historical restoration of sites of Memory in our country. Promoting the construction of content in a collaborative way that speaks to visitors of the sites of Memory (like former clandestine detention centers) located in Argentina.
  • During online courses, we will foster an editing line related to the improvement of Human Rights content in Wikipedia.
  • Wikimedia Argentina will address the theme by generating edition workshops on Human Rights and Crimes against Humanity with interdisciplinary professionals that diversify primary and secondary sources to support the edited articles.
  • Wikimedia Argentina will take part in national, regional and international events to foster research and analysis of public politics related to Memory.
  • Wikimedia Argentina will position the access to information as a focal point, access to information as a human right and as the foundation to reconstruct the memories of our country.
  • Wikimedia Argentina will incorporate this line of work to the training courses of educators, students and institutions, with democratization of content as a focal point.
