Wikiclubs

As of March 31, there are 276 registered members in all 10 active Wikiclubs (Goris, Ddmashen, Lernapat, Kirants, Koghb, Hatsik, Jermuk, Kajaran, Ijevan, and Gyumri).
A special edit-a-thon titled “Women’s Month 2026” was launched for Wikiclubs. During the edit-a-thon, participants created articles about women: biographies, various concepts and objects concerning women, songs performed by women singers, literature by women authors, etc. Participants translated articles from other language Wikipedias choosing them from a list of articles created for the edit-a-thon.
The Wikiclub member with the best quality articles and productivity received a prize from Wikimedia Armenia, meanwhile four other participants received certificates. Some community members who are not Wikiclub members also joined the edit-a-thon, however, they were not a part of the contest.
Throughout the “Women’s Month 2026” edit-a-thon 17 participants created 52 articles, overall contributing 1,101,241 bytes to Armenian Wikipedia.
Wikiedits
[edit]Throughout the month, 89 out of 276 Wikiclub members contributed to Wikipedia. Overall, they made 1232 edits and created 329 articles. In total, Wikiclubs contributed 8,213,474 bytes to Armenian Wikipedia. In March, 75 Wikiclub members contributed to Wikidata, making 316 edits.
University students' internship at WMAM

The Brusov State University students began their internships on 9 February and finished it on 20 March. 68 students from the Faculty of Translation and Intercultural Communication and Russian and Foreign Languages visited Wikimedia Armenia’s office twice a week to participate in a two-hour-long training. During these training, they learned how to edit and contribute to Armenian Wikipedia.
Throughout their internship, students translated articles from English, Chinese and Korean Wikipedias and created 183 articles, making a total of 11,391,300 bytes contribution to Armenian Wikipedia.
YSU Ijevan Branch
[edit]Students from this university started their internship on 9 February. Wikimedia Armenia staff organized two online training courses introducing students to Wikipedia, its rules, five pillars, and editing tools. After these sessions, students received further help and guidance by visiting the WikiClub that is operating in the Ijevan Branch of the Yerevan State University.
Throughout the following weeks until 20 March, 46 students from the Departments of Armenian History and Social Sciences, Armenian Language and Literature, and Foreign Languages translated articles from English, French and Russian Wikipedias. Some of them also created and improved articles by using Armenian online and printed sources. Overall, participants created and improved 275 articles totaling 7,413,083 bytes.
At the end of March the part-time students from the Department of Armenian History and Social Sciences started their internship which will last until late April.
During these internships, a total of 458 articles with a volume of 18,804,383 bytes were contributed to Armenian Wikipedia.
Wiki Loves History

Since January 2026, “Wikimedia Armenia” has launched a new edit-a-thon, the purpose of which is to improve and create, if needed, articles about the history and historical events of Armenia.
In January, a special list of thematic articles was created which included incomplete articles, as well as articles lacking sources. A meeting with interested students from the History Faculty of Yerevan State University was organized. During the meeting, the project was introduced to students, a roadmap of activities was developed; meanwhile,. participants chose their articles to improve.
The project work has been distributed over the first quarter of 2026. Until March 31, 13 participants improved and created articles in Armenian, English and Russian Wikipedias. Overall, 90 articles were created about the Arsacid dynasty of Armenia, 30 in each language.
Waste Management: Extended Producer and Consumer Responsibility Wikiproject

In March 2026, "Wikimedia Armenia" and "Public Awareness and Monitoring Center" NGO organized the "Waste Management: Extended Producer and Consumer Responsibility" edit-a-thon within the framework of the Waste Management Policy in Armenia project, implemented with funding from the Swedish Government and technical assistance from the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment. The purpose of the project is to create and improve articles concerning waste management, and to fill the content gap that exists in Armenian Wikipedia.
Wikimedia Armenia organized a training course for newcomers who didn’t have experience in editing Wikipedia articles. A list of recommended articles was created to help and guide participants in filling the content gap.
Throughout a month, 14 participants created 135 articles making 3,799,714 bytes contribution to Armenian Wikipedia. The best editors will receive certificates and cash prizes prepared by the co-organizer Public Awareness and Monitoring Center NGO.
Wiki Loves Folklore

In March, Wikimedia Armenia joined the “Wiki Loves Folklore” international photo contest for the first time.
The primary purpose of this contest is to document cultural diversity in various formats - photos, videos, audios - and use them for the largest free encyclopedia Wikipedia and its sister projects. Throughout a month-long contest, 10 participants joined the contest by uploading 245 photos and videos presenting Armenian folklore.

CEE Spring 2026

On March 21, the editors of the Armenian Wikimedia community joined the “CEE Spring 2026” edit-a-thon contest which is organized each year by the CEE Hub. This edit-a-thon is dedicated to creating articles about countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
Throughout the 20 days from the start of the contest, 6 participants created 155 articles about 29 countries and 12 topics.
Digital Presence & Media Coverage

The "Wiki Loves Folklore" international photography contest was featured on the March 5 broadcast of Armenia TV's "Bari Luys" program. Mher Bekaryan, the organization's quality content coordinator, presented the importance of the project, and the initiators of the project's implementation in Armenia presented the goal of the contest and what kind of photos will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
An article about the Winter Medical Wikicamp, organized on January 24-31, was published in the CEE Newsletter, presenting the training organized for newcomers before the Wikicamp, as well as the Wikicamp itself and its successes.
On March 31, Wikimedia Armenia employee Mher Bekaryan participated in the conference “Universal Acceptance: Building a Truly Multilingual Internet” organized by the Internet Society NGO. During the event, M. Bekaryan presented Wikipedia’s language policy and presented to the audience some of the internal processes of the Wikimedia community. He also touched upon how Wikipedia strives to provide equal opportunities for people of different language groups, how Wikipedia solves the problem of cross-translation, and what measures it is taking to make Wikipedia, as one of the major initiatives to create a multilingual Internet, more inclusive.
