Our Vision[edit]

To promote equality of opportunity to access and participate in the collaborative creation of Free Cultural Works, especially educational works, and works about Australia, its culture, natural environment, and Australian news and media.

Wikimedia Australia supports the work of the Wikimedia Foundation in creating repositories of freely licenced content using Web 2.0 technologies.

Through the use of wikis, the Wikimedia Foundation has created vast online libraries of information in 250 languages which anyone can contribute to. Projects are supported by a passionate user community which collaborates to improve the quality of the content.

Our programs[edit]

Wikimedia Australia is currently undertaking the following programs:

  • Auslan dictionary Indigenous language Wikipedia.
  • Involvement with the education sector.
  • Community events.
  • Promotion of the free Web 2.0.
