Marc Venot is a relatively recent editor on Wikimedia projects. He started editing in January 2015. Yet in less than a year's time, he has surpassed a record 350,000 edits and is close to 400,000 mark. His initial focus was French Wikimedia (Wikipedia and Wiktionary), but he soon switched to Ido Wikimedia (Wikipedia and Wiktionary) because of his profound interest in the language. As he holds the maximum edits on Ido projects, we interviewed him to gather insight into his editing experience as well as to know the culture of Ido language projects.

Marc hails from the main city of Vancouver in Canada. He owns a few studios which he has rented out. He is single and spends his time watching videos and playing video games. But his main passion lies in editing Ido Wikimedia projects. According to him, Ido is language that goes into several fundamentals of thinking, something that can be called "scientific", and has the potential of becoming the pivot language for Europe. At the same time, Marc is an ardent linguist and is also open to work in another language like Lojban in future.

Before becoming a Wikimedian, Marc used the information available on Wikipedia in various discussion fora. During this course, he noticed errors needing rectification. He soon embarked on the correction of these errors and gradually became part of Wikimedia projects. Marc's editing statics are as follows: 318,000+ edits on Ido Wiktionary, about 41,000 edits on Ido Wikipedia, 17,000+ edits on French Wikipedia, about 10,000 edits on French Wikipedia and also small number of contributions to English Wiktionary.

As the sysop of Ido Wikipedia, Marc stresses on his role to keep some coherence, notably in the categories and templates. He feels that Ido needs some of advanced translation tools available to other languages as this will help in adding more content easily to the different Ido projects. For both Ido Wikipedia and Wiktionary, Marc reads newspapers in the six languages on which Ido is based. He also looks for words that the wiktionary currently does not include and how new entries can be added or existing ones can be modified.

Commenting on his Ido Wikimedia colleagues, Marc referred to his colleagues Artomo hailing from Finland as a pro and João Xavier of Brazil as a pillar because of their immense contributions and supportive gestures.

As regards to his future Wiki goals, Marc stressed on his firm resolve to keep the Wikimedia projects clean and to keep up with the good guys or girls working on these projects.
