Wikimedia Ukraine initiates new photo contest – “Wiki Loves Earth”

Wikimedia Ukraine is launching a new photo contest, "Wiki Loves Earth", on April 15, 2013. The goal of the contest is to collect free pictures of Ukraine's Natural Heritage sites, landscapes, and ornamental gardening objects in order to illustrate articles on Wikipedia.

Anyone can take part in the competition; however, registration on Wikimedia Commons is required. The Organizational Committee has begun preparation work on the competition list and already has almost 8,000 possible photographic entries including nature reserves, landscape parks, protected areas, natural heritage sites, zoological gardens and parks, flora, and ornamental gardening objects.

To enter the contest, find an item or place you are familar with from the competition list, submit a picture you have taken (past or present), and upload it to Wikimedia Commons beginning April 15 through May 15, 2013. The photographers with the best pictures will be awarded prizes. The winners will be announced at the awarding ceremony in Kyiv on World Environment Day on June 5, 2013.

According to Yuri Perohanych, Wikimedia Ukraine Executive Director, this photo contest will draw society’s attention to the existing problems surrounding Ukraine's natural heritage protection, and the contest itself will highlight green/eco tourism in Ukraine.

Contest Coordinator Yevhen Buket pointed out that the idea to hold such a photo competition came from the successful international photo contest Wiki Loves Monuments in Ukraine this past September. The goal of the Wiki Loves Monuments contest was to collect pictures of cultural heritage monuments in Ukraine.

Wikimedia Ukraine invited the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, environmental organizations, as well as donors and sponsors to help with the organization of the competition and contribute to the contest prize fund.

Громадська організація «Вікімедіа Україна» ініціює новий фотоконкурс – «Вікі любить Землю», який має на меті зібрати фотографії об’єктів природно-заповідного фонду та садово-паркового мистецтва України для ілюстрування статей у всесвітній інтернет-енциклопедії Вікіпедія.

Взяти участь у конкурсі зможе кожен охочий. Для цього слід зареєструватися у Вікісховищі – одному з сестринських проектів Вікіпедії, – знайти у переліку відомі Вам об’єкти, сфотографувати їх власноруч (будь-коли) і завантажити світлини на Вікісховище (у період з 15 квітня до 15 травня). Автори найкращих світлин будуть нагороджені цінними призами. Оголошення результатів і нагородження переможців відбудеться 5 червня 2013 у Всесвітній день охорони навколишнього середовища.

Оргкомітет уже розпочав роботу над переліком конкурсних об’єктів, який складатиметься з майже 8 тисяч позицій. До цього переліку будуть включені заповідники, ландшафтні парки, заказники, пам’ятки природи, заповідні урочища, ботанічні дендрологічні, зоологічні сади і парки, а також пам’ятки садово-паркового мистецтва.

Виконавчий директор ГО «Вікімедіа Україна» Юрій Пероганич висловив думку, що цей фотоконкурс має привернути увагу суспільства до проблем збереження природних ресурсів та багатств України, а сам конкурс, серед іншого, має розкрити потенціал «зеленого туризму» в Україні.

Як зазначив координатор конкурсу Євген Букет, ідея цього конкурсу виникла після успішного проведення у вересні 2012 року міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам’ятки», метою якого є збирання фотографій пам’яток історичної та культурної спадщини України.

Організатори конкурсу запросили до співпраці в організації конкурсу Міністерство екології та природних ресурсів України, природоохоронні організації, а також благодійників і спонсорів для наповнення призового фонду конкурсу.

Wikimedia Ucrania anunció un nuevo concurso de fotografía "Wiki Loves Earth" (Wiki ama al Planeta Tierra), a apartir de 15 de abril de 2013. El objetivo del concurso es recopilar imágenes libres relacionadas al Patrimonio Natural de Ucrania, paisajes y jardines ornamentales, para ilustrar artículos en Wikipedia.

Cualquier persona puede participar en el concurso, sin embargo, es necesario registrarse en Wikimedia Commons. El Comité de Organización inició el trabajo de preparación de la lista de la competencia que ya cuenta con aproximadamente 8.000 posibles lugares para ser fotografiados, incluyendo reservas naturales, parques naturales, áreas protegidas, sitios de patrimonio natural, zoológicos y parques, flora y jardines ornamentales.

Para participar en el concurso, busca un lugar con el que estés familiarizado en la lista competencia, envía una fotografía que hayas tomado (pasada o actual), y súbela a Wikimedia Commons entre el 15 de abril y el 15 de mayo 2013. Se preamiarán a las mejores fotografías. Los ganadores serán anunciados en la ceremonia de premiación en Kiev el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente el 5 de junio de 2013.

Según Yuri Perohanych, Director Ejecutivo de Wikimedia Ucrania, este concurso fotográfico, llamará la atención de la sociedad acerca de los problemas relacionados a la protección del patrimonio natural de Ucrania, y también destacará el turismo verde o ecológico en Ucrania.

El coordinador del concurso Yevhen Buket señaló que la idea de realizar este concurso provino del exitoso concurso de fotografía internacional "Wiki Loves Monuments" que se realizaó en Ucrania el pasado mes de septiembre. El objetivo de "Wiki Loves Monuments" fue recolectar imágenes de monumentos del patrimonio cultural de Ucrania.

Wikimedia Ucrania invitó al Ministerio de Ecología y Recursos Naturales de Ucrania, organizaciones ambientales, así como a donantes y patrocinadores para ayudar con la organización de la competencia y contribuir al fondo de premios del concurso.
