In the first semester of 2024, WMB launched a support program to facilitate the accreditation of Wikimedians for coverage of events within the open knowledge ecosystem. One community member requested assistance to attend the Climate Information Integrity Summit in Brasília, focused on disinformation and the climate crisis. The team supported this participation by issuing a reference letter, justifying the volunteer’s alignment with the event's goals, and coordinating coverage logistics. The initiative led to 22 media files uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a public community update, and a social media post highlighting the activity.[1]

This action contributes to the strategic goal of fostering and diversifying partnerships for open knowledge in Brazil. It not only strengthened the Wikimedia presence among allied organizations but also empowered a Wikimedian to document the event from a community-centered perspective. The presence of a Wikimedian helped bridge dialogue with attendees interested in engaging with Wikimedia projects, while the resulting media expanded the platform's content on environmental and informational integrity.[1]

In 2024, WMB's transition from a user group to a chapter highlighted the need for a complete institutional visual identity revamp, moving beyond the former logo associated only with the acronym. This activity strengthened communication about Wikimedia projects in Brazil, reaching new audiences, and reinforced institutional purpose across the organization. The main goal was to engage the community and associated members in creating a coherent visual identity connected to the new strategic cycle and to WMB's main areas of work.

The process included forming a committee,[2] holding meetings, defining the briefing, hiring a designer, conducting community feedback sessions,[3] validating the final design, and officially launching the identity with full documentation[4][5]. Qualitatively, the activity resulted in a cohesive, recognizable visual system that supports consistent communication materials and institutional visibility. Quantitatively, it delivered two main resources: a full visual system (color palette, typography, visual elements, and applications) and a brandbook with usage guidelines, along with two feedback sessions and one community communication about the process.[6]
