In preparation for WikiCon Brasil 2025, Wikimedia Brasil focused on strengthening strategic partnerships and mobilizing networks to advance the theme "Strengthening Digital Public Goods". Building on the success of the first edition held in São Paulo in 2022, the second edition of the event will take place in Salvador, Bahia, on July 19-20. The team developed the full event proposal, sponsorship packages, media plan, promotional video, website, and communication materials, while also setting up a community governance structure and coordinating planning meetings and partner outreach.

This effort aligns with the organization’s strategic goals of fostering and diversifying partnerships for free knowledge and coordinating Brazilian Wikimedia agencies. As a result, WMB secured new financial support from the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br)[1] and activated a partnership with the Goethe-Institut Salvador[2]. These outcomes not only ensured the viability of the upcoming event but also expanded the organization's influence in internet governance discussions, especially by promoting regional diversity and free-licensed documentation of the process.

Two Wikimedia Brasil initiatives were selected in the global "Call to Action for Information Integrity on Climate Change", joining over 127 projects from 27 countries in the COP-30 Solutions Hub.[3] This activity aligns with the strategic axis of fostering and diversifying partnerships for free knowledge in Brazil, by positioning Wikimedia projects as allies in strengthening scientific culture and climate information integrity. The objective of the call was to highlight leading initiatives that advance reliable, high-quality information on global climate change.

Wikimedia Brasil successfully presented the projects – Wikiconcurso Justiça Climática e Amazônia and Financiamento Climático na Wiki –, both of which contributed to improving the volume and quality of climate-related knowledge on Wikimedia platforms. Qualitatively, the international recognition reinforces the role of Wikimedia projects in combating climate disinformation—identified by UNESCO as a major global risk—and strengthens WMB’s organizational credibility. Quantitatively, the outcome represents two successful participations in international funding and visibility opportunities.
