First semester
Development of the Wiki Apoia financial best practices guide
In the first semester of 2026, Wikimedia Brasil developed and published a visual guide on financial best practices for participants of our microfunding program, Wiki Apoia, covering expense documentation, payment verification, value reconciliation, and the return of unused funds. The guide was designed to increase compliance and reduce recurring errors in financial reporting, bringing greater standardization to the accountability processes of supported projects.[1]
The initiative aligns with WMB's strategic axis of sustaining collaborative practices in support of open knowledge, by strengthening the support processes for Wiki Apoia participants and promoting responsible resource management. It was meant as a model for empowering project writing and reporting across community members. The guide has contributed to clearer expectations around financial accountability, reduced common participant doubts, and fostered greater transparency in the execution of supported projects.
