In the first semester of 2026, Wikimedia Brasil launched a book celebrating 25 years of Wikimedia in Brazil, titled "A Wikimedia no Brasil: o poder e os desafios do conhecimento livre", or The Wikimedia in Brazil: the power and challenges of free knowledge in English. The initiative combined launch events,[1] media coverage, digital reproduction on Wikisource[2] and Wikimedia Commons,[3] the creation of a dedicated landing page,[4] and presentations at academic and cultural events — including at ECA-USP[5] and CryptoRave 2026[6] — consolidating Wikimedia's role as a reference for free knowledge in the country.[7]

The project aligns with two of WMB's strategic axes: sustaining collaborative practices in support of free knowledge, and building strategic alliances in defense of digital public goods. It celebrates community co-creation and governance while mapping alliances to protect the open knowledge commons. The launch directly mobilized 22 organizers and 179 participants, not counting readers with open access to the book, viewers of the post-launch livestream, or those reached through media coverage. The full text is freely available online and on Wikimedia platforms.
