First semester
GLAM Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi: Cultural and Natural Heritage Wiki

In the first semester of 2026, Wikimedia Brasil carried out a large-scale upload of the herbarium collection of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, one of Brazil's most important scientific and cultural institutions in the Amazon region. Supported by a grant from Wikimedia CH, the initiative structured and published collection records under open licenses across Wikimedia platforms, expanding global access to Amazonian scientific knowledge and cultural memory.[1][2]
The project aligns with WMB's second strategic axis of building strategic alliances in defense of digital public goods, with a focus on mediating partnerships directed at knowledge equity and information integrity. The uploads surpassed initial targets, reaching 6,049 items on Wikidata and 21,855 items on Wikimedia Commons, ensuring open access to the museum's herbarium records for a global audience and broadening the reach and visibility of the Goeldi Museum's scientific heritage.[3]
