From First Edit to Lasting Contribution: Mapping Wikimedia Brasil's Editor Community

In May 2026, Wikimedia Brasil published a comprehensive analysis of the profiles and contributions of editors engaged in WMB activities since 2014. The study segments the editor community across five dimensions, identifying engagement patterns, the critical window for editor retention, and the role long-term editors play in community sustainability. The methodology is fully documented, reproducible, and published openly.[1]

The analysis aligns with WMB's strategic axis of sustaining collaborative practices in favor of free knowledge, serving as a diagnosis of the health and resilience of the communities WMB engages. Its findings feed directly into programmatic action points on increasing and qualifying editor engagement. The work produced one analysis pipeline and public repository, and one Diff post, providing concrete, data-driven foundations for future decisions on community growth and editor retention.
