[edit]- What is the main goal of your project?
- The main goal of this project is to bring people together in Hamburg to improve the coverage of women from around the world on Persian Wikipedia. We’re planning an in-person edit-a-thon that starts with a simple, beginner-friendly training session on how to edit Wikipedia. After that, participants will work on creating and improving articles about notable women in different fields—culture, science, history, activism, and more.
- This event is not just about editing; it’s about building a space where Persian-speaking contributors, especially women, can learn, connect, and feel empowered to share knowledge. We hope it helps make Persian Wikipedia more diverse and encourages new editors to stay involved in the long run.
- Describe which activities you plan to implement
- We’re organizing a one-day edit-a-thon in Hamburg focused on creating and improving articles about women on Persian Wikipedia. The event will begin with a short training session for newcomers, followed by several hours of focused editing.
- Participants will work with prepared article lists and source materials to write new entries or expand existing ones. Our main goal is to increase quality content about women and help new editors feel confident contributing. Refreshments and on-site support will be provided throughout the day.
- Describe your team
- The project will be led by Darafsh, an experienced Wikimedian and active contributor to Persian Wikipedia. He will coordinate the event, handle logistics, and lead the training session.
- He will be supported by two students from the Iranian Studies program at the University of Hamburg, who will assist with outreach, participant support, and on-the-day coordination.
