[edit]- What is the main goal of your project?
- Modernisation of the technical infrastructure of the WUG Esperanto and Free Knowledge.
- Technical infrastructure can greatly support our work, but in its current state, it is only partially usable. 4-3 years ago we have done massive work on our project management tool OpenProject, so eg. we could set up a new project from a project template for a Wikipedia articles competition in just 45 minutes and it had everything needed for managing a competition. So even a project manager that has never organised an article competition could start it very easily just following the instructions (some content work is still needed). But it suddenly stopped working 2,5 year ago and since then we couldn’t repair it to a functional state. That robs us of our productivity and makes it harder for us to do our programmatic and administrative work. Similar with our contact / membership management program CiviCRM. It mostly works, but because of an incomplete setup we still need to do some work manually every time, instead of just using automation. We have been working with volunteer technicians for the last 5 years, and they have done a good job, but it was taking too long. So now we are asking for the grant to make the needed modernisation much faster.
- Overall, the intended movement impact is in making work of our affiliation more efficient, so we can do more work, more coherently and enable more rest to our core activists, thus helping to prevent burnout and enable more long-term work.
- Describe which activities you plan to implement
- OpenProject (project management tool): making our OpenProject usable again; software update; ideally setting up automatic regular backups; writing a concise handbook for future technician use.
- CiviCRM (contacts / memberships management tool): update; setting up a cron (for automatic execution of scheduled tasks, like sending planned emails); prevention of spam; repair of our CiviVolunteer (if possible within the budget).
- WordPress: repair of unavailability of some subsites.
- Financial tracker: election, installing, setting up and testing. (unlike other softwares, we haven’t settled yet on which specific software to use, so we can’t guarantee that we will finish this item)

- The project is relevant for the Wikimedia User Group Esperanto and Free Knowledge. We support mostly the Esperanto Wikimedia projects and communities, Esperanto participation in the multilingual projects (Wikidata, Commons, plans to support Wikifunctions and Abstract Wikipedia), and secondary also the Slovak projects and community as part of our ecosystemic support (supporting those who support us).
- The main target group are activists, members and supporters of the WUG Esperanto and Free Knowledge and our relevant Wikimedia projects and communities. Basically people that work on our projects and administration, or are targeted by it.
- Do you have any metrics for the proposed grant proposal? If yes, please fill in the number of participants, editors, organisers and content contributions (Wikipedia articles, Wikimedia Commons images, Wikidata items, etc.)
- Usual Wikimedia metrics are not relevant for this project. Measurable progress will be the technical reparations and improvements which enabled us to do our work (more efficiently).

- Many items of this list require some research and learning which may be shorter but also longer than expected. The full budget is already higher than the maximum allowed. So we will do first the most important things and than others as allowed by the remaining budget.
