What is the main goal of your project?

• Our main goal is to increase open media literacy (open content, data and free licenses), to do promotion of good practices in open publishing (Wikimedia) and increase documentation of public activities (including online and in-person work). Possible impact is changing public understanding and relevance of Wikipedia and Wikimedia systems, inspiring new contributors.

Describe which activities you plan to implement

• The motivation for this project comes from the state of the Croatian Wikipedia, which has struggled with issues of reputation and inclusivity due to a history of limited editorial diversity. This initiative aims to open the space to new younger and older contributors including more focused on women and minorities, fostering a more balanced, creative, and collaborative community. Through the podcast, we want to make the complexities of the Wikimedia ecosystem more accessible and engaging — encouraging understanding, participation, and trust in open knowledge platforms.

Describe your team

• Between 2020 and 2024, Sanja Bachrach-Krištofić hosted a culture-focused podcast highlighting women and increasing the visibility of cultural and artistic projects, titled Doručak na travi (“Breakfast on the Grass”). She is the editor of a podcast series with over 200 episodes published on YouTube.

Plakor Kovačević is a graphic designer and video editor specializing in photo and video documentation, as well as online publishing — with a particular focus on contributing to Wikimedia platforms.

• Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, Wikipedia in Croatian, Serbocroatian and Bosnian language.

Do you have any metrics for the proposed grant proposal? If yes, please fill in the number of participants, editors, organisers and content contributions (Wikipedia articles, Wikimedia Commons images, Wikidata items, etc.)

• We will produce an experimental test pilot podcast episode with an aim to promote it among potential contributors, partners and use it to establish a standard of production quality and structure to replicate in future series. We will also promote it as part of 25 years of Wikipedia in January 2026.
