Project information

[edit]
What is the main goal of your project?
  • Scanning of Turkish sports-related periodicals (PD ones) and upload them to Wikimedia Commons.
Describe which activities you plan to implement
  • I made a list (here) of some Turkish sports-related periodicals that are published between the 1900s and the 1990s, and some libraries that have those issues in their archive. My idea is that to "pay a little amount per page" so people can actually go and get those scans and do a good job. Those scans must be high definition so the texts can be read clearly. After having the PDF files of the pages, the PDF content can easily be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons, under a proper licence. Non PD content "won't be shared publicly", only if someone needs a source while creating/expanding an article.
Describe your team
  • Just me, and some participants from the Turkish Wikipedia community.
For which Wikimedia projects is the project relevant? For which communities is the project relevant? What is your target group?
  • Wikimedia Commons

  • Up to 5 editors with that budget. One organiser, me. And around 800 scanned pages.
