Project information
[edit]- What is the main goal of your project?
- The project aims to digitize and document traditional sweets of national minorities in Vojvodina through photographs, recipes and articles on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, with the inclusion of new volunteers and editors.
- During the project, a volunteer team, in cooperation with local communities (Hungarian, Slovak, Ruthenian and Romanian), will collect traditional recipes, photograph the process of preparing traditional sweets and document the cultural context of their use. All material will be published under free Creative Commons licenses on Wikimedia Commons, while articles on traditional sweets and gastronomic heritage will be created and supplemented on Serbian Wikipedia.
- The project directly contributes to the collection of free content, increasing the diversity of topics on Wiki projects and the inclusion of new editors from local communities. The ultimate goal is the permanent preservation of intangible cultural heritage through freely available knowledge and strengthening the capacity of communities to further work on Wiki projects.
- We are familiar with the concept of free knowledge and Creative Commons licenses and all content will be published in accordance with these principles. The primary results of the project will be freely licensed photos on the Wikimedia Commons repository and new or updated articles on the Serbian Wikipedia.

- Describe your team
- The project is led by the organization Youth of JAZAS Novi Sad, which has many years of experience working with young people, journalism, and educational projects.
- The implementation team will include:
- 1 organizer (volunteer team)
- 3 young volunteers – journalists/photographer responsible for collecting materials
- representatives of local minority communities as collaborators
- During field activities, members of local communities will also be involved as interviewees and collaborators, thereby increasing the total number of participants.
- The organization has experience in implementing cultural, educational, and media projects, as well as in working with marginalized and local communities.
- For which Wikimedia projects is the project relevant? For which communities is the project relevant? What is your target group?
- The gastronomic and cultural heritage of national minorities in Vojvodina is insufficiently represented on Wikipedia and in open digital knowledge bases. A large number of traditional recipes exist only in oral form and have not been systematically documented, leading to the gradual loss of cultural identity and knowledge, especially among younger generations.
- At the same time, there is a very limited number of freely licensed photographs of traditional desserts from the Vojvodina region on Wikimedia Commons. This project responds to the strategic focus of Wikimedia Serbia—collecting free content, promoting diversity, and collaborating with local communities—through the digitization of recipes, photographs, and cultural stories of minority communities, and their permanent publication on Wiki projects.
- Do you have any metrics for the proposed grant proposal? If yes, please fill in the number of participants, editors, organisers and content contributions (Wikipedia articles, Wikimedia Commons images, Wikidata items, etc.)
