Before traveling, we researched the German heritage present in the region. In addition to the cities of Göygöl and Shamkir mentioned in the project, we also photographed historical monuments related to German heritage in Baku and Ganja. Over the course of our four-day trip and one additional day in Baku, we took a total of 554 photographs. From these, we selected 374 images and uploaded them to Wikimedia Commons. The photographs we took cover a total of 21 state-registered historical monuments as well as more than 150 historic houses built by Germans in the 19th and 20th centuries. Unfortunately, during our trip, neither of the two museums we planned to visit was open. For this reason, we were unable to document the exhibits located there. While uploading the images to Wikimedia Commons, a total of 17 new categories were created. For example: It turned out that the famous Singer company once had a sales office in the city of Ganja. This building was constructed by the Singer brothers back in the 19th century, and we also photographed it. (Category:Zinger brothers' workshop-shop) In addition, we took photographs of the German prisoners-of-war cemetery located in Baku. (Category:Cemetery of German prisoners of war, Baku) |
