Voting takes place from 6 July 2026 to 20 July 2026 (Anywhere on Earth).

Community voting

Eligible members of the Wikimedia CEE Hub community may vote for the Community seats.

To be eligible to vote, an individual must be a member of the Wikimedia CEE Hub community.

A Wikimedia CEE Hub community member is any Wikimedian with a Wikimedia account who meets at least one of the following criteria by 18 June 2026:

• Present on the CEE Hub mailing list
• Present on the CEE General mailing list
• Member of the CEE Youth Group mailing list
• Delegate to the CEE Meeting at least once in the last five years

In addition, eligible voters must:

• Have a Wikimedia account created on or before 18 December 2025
• Have at least 300 edits on Wikimedia projects between 18 December 2025 and 18 June 2026
• Not have been blocked on any Wikimedia project between 18 March 2026 and 18 June 2026, and not be currently blocked

Affiliate voting

Each Wikimedia affiliate in the CEE region designates one voter to vote for the Affiliate seats. The list of eligible affiliates in good standing is available at List of the eligible CEE affiliates.

Each designated affiliate voter may cast one vote.

Voting method

This election uses a ranking (preferential) voting system.

Voters rank candidates in order of preference. Ranking as many or as few candidates as they wish is permitted.

Points are assigned in descending order: the first-ranked candidate receives the highest number of points, the second-ranked candidate receives one point less, and so on. Candidates who are not ranked receive no points.

After voting closes, candidates are ordered according to their total number of points.

Tie-breaking

If two or more candidates receive the same total number of points:

1. The number of first-ranked votes is compared.

1. If still tied, the number of second-ranked votes is compared.

1. The comparison continues through all ranking positions.

If the tie still remains after comparing every ranking position, the election tool will conduct a random draw to determine the final order. The result of the draw will be recorded.

Community voters

1. Sign in with your Wikimedia account.
2. The tool will automatically verify your eligibility.
3. If required, verify your email address using the one-time verification code sent by the tool.
4. Once verification is complete, open the Community ballot.
5. Rank the candidates in your preferred order.
6. Submit your ballot. You may return and change your vote any time until the voting period closes.

Affiliate voters

1. Sign in with your Wikimedia account.
2. If your username has been designated by your affiliate, you will be granted access to the Affiliate ballot.
3. Rank the candidates in your preferred order.
4. Submit your ballot. You may return and change your vote any time until the voting period closes.

General rules

• Individuals may vote only in the Community election.
• Each eligible affiliate may designate one voter for the Affiliate election.
• A person who is eligible as both a community voter and an affiliate-designated voter may vote once in each category.
• Current Wikimedia Foundation staff members are not eligible to vote.
• Votes may be changed until the end of the voting period. Only the latest submitted ballot will be counted.

Notes

• The Electoral Commission oversees the voting process, including voter verification and the certification of the final results.
• The election tool records only who voted and when the vote was submitted or updated. It does not record or keep any information about which candidates a voter selected or how they ranked them.
