Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2017
) will be the sixth annual meeting of Wikimedians from Central and Eastern Europe
centered on the Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia and similar projects) in countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The meeting will take place in Warsaw
, Poland, from September 22nd until September 25th 2017.
The idea of CEE meeting was conceived at an informal meetup that took place on 6 August 2011 at Wikimania 2011 in Haifa.
This meeting will be a follow-up to the successful previous meetings: 2012 edition in Belgrade, Serbia, 2013 edition in Modra, Slovakia, 2014 edition in Kyiv, Ukraine, 2015 edition in Voore, Estonia and 2016 edition in Dilijan, Armenia.
The main goal of the meeting is to promote, support and develop cross-border collaboration between various Wikimedia chapters, thematic organisations, user groups, projects and other communities in the region.
This goal is based on following theory of change: By getting people from the same region together and engaging them in real life discussions, workshops and social events, communities are strengthened and capacities are developed, partners become part of regional collaboration, and the public gets engaged with wikimedia projects, so that we build an established regional network of local Wikimedia affiliates and external partners, with wider public engagement
Wikimedia Central and Eastern Europe or CEEWikiLink is a partnership among the Wikimedia communities in Central and Eastern Europe. The mission of the group is to stimulate growth for all Wikimedia projects of this region and aid in cooperation and understanding of individual projects which are part of the CEE region.
The conference will start in 37 days.
