The second building of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 2022

The Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2023 will take place in the second building of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, located in the city center, near which there is all the necessary infrastructure for a successful conference. The second building of the university is located on the side of the first (main) building, which together create the central campus of the university.

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) is the oldest university in Georgia and the Caucasus, founded in 1918. Over 23,500 students are enrolled, and the total number of faculty and staff (collaborators) is 5,000. According to the U.S. News & World Report university rankings, TSU is ranked 398th in the world. The university has five branches in the regions of Georgia, six faculties, 60 scientific-research laboratories and centers, a scientific library (with 3,700,000 books and periodicals), seven museums, a publishing house, and a printing press.

From Hotel to University

The distance between the hotel (Tbilisi Philharmonic Hotel), where scholarship recipients accommodate, and the University is 650 meters, which is a 9-minute walk. You can also use the bus (stop in front of the hotel) to get to the University (stop in front of the building). You only need to go to one stop.

You can choose the following bus numbers: 301, 345, 388.

Bus and Metro

The closest metro station to the University is RUSTAVELI. The metro station is on the first line (Akhmeteli-Varketili line). The Tbilisi Metro is the fastest and most efficient way to get around the city. It operates from 6:00 to 23:59.

From the Rustaveli metro, you can take a bus to get to both the hotel and the University, which are in the same direction. You can also walk to the University and the hotel from the Metro, which is a 10-minute walk.
