| Abstract:
How can we celebrate contributions of volunteers who’ve dedicated dozens of years to making Wikipedia better? Last year Ukrainian Wikipedia marked a 20-year anniversary, and we launched a special award for people who’ve shaped this run. 38 volunteers across 18 categories received an award for their contribution – from the mining scientist who created 27,000 articles over 18 years to the financial manager who’s made the most edits, to the teacher who founded a wiki club in her hometown. I will present the award & how such an initiative can be used to boost motivation of key community members and functionaries. |

| How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of CEE?
Participants will learn about a relatively low-cost way to motivate experienced community members and functionaries & potentially replicate it in their own community. This is particularly relevant ahead of Wikipedia 25-year birthday, which will mark another milestone that can be used for celebration. | |||
