| Abstract:
The EU's Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp) provides a common understanding to identify and describe the key areas of digital competence. It defines digital competence as the "confident, critical and responsible use of, and engagement with, digital technologies for learning, at work, and for participation in society." This presentation explores how contributions to Wikimedia projects align with DigComp’s five competence areas: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, safety, and problem solving. By demonstrating this alignment, I make the case that embedding of Wikipedia into educational and lifelong learning activities enhances citizens’ digital competencies and supports digital inclusion goals. |
