| Abstract:
The roundtable "Ethics on the Wikipedia Platform" delves into the ethical considerations surrounding the world's largest online encyclopedia, Wikipedia. It examines the unique ethical challenges faced by the platform, which operates on principles of collaborative editing and open access to information. The lecture discusses the importance of accuracy, neutrality, and verifiability in Wikipedia's content, highlighting the responsibility of editors to uphold these standards. It also explores issues such as conflicts of interest, bias, and vandalism, which can undermine the credibility and reliability of Wikipedia articles. Furthermore, the roundtable will give the opportunity to assess the role of Wikipedia in shaping public knowledge and perception, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability within the community. By analyzing and dicussing case studies and real-world examples, we will encourage critical thinking and ethical decision-making among Wikipedia contributors and users alike.
