Abstract:

This demonstration will introduce the goals of Abstract Wikipedia and the Wikifunctions platform. The presenter will make the case for community-driven natural language generation, and particularly SYMBOLIC (i.e., not LLM-based) natural language generation. The presenter will show how Wikifunctions and Abstract Wikipedia are already able to solve some classes of content generation and maintenace problems, and also give a speculative overview of Abstract Wikipedia's future plans. The presenter will then demonstrate how to create simple natural language generation functions in Wikifunctions.

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of CEE?

Abstract Wikipedia's goal is to let more people share more knowledge in more languages, and it aims to be especially useful to languages that could benefit from more automated content generation tools. Editors of CEE languages will be able to share their knowledge across a broader set of Wikipedias and generate article content more efficiently in their own languages.
