| Abstract:
Wiki Loves Earth is widely known for its stunning imagery of protected natural areas around the world. In just 10 years of its existence, it attracted nearly a million images of protected areas worldwide from 94 countries. While the contest has excelled at showcasing the beauty of biodiversity, this proposal aims to explore a deeper layer: the stories behind the images, whether it's the personal experiences of photographers, the ecological significance of the subject, or the challenges of conservation on the ground. We will represent a series of images with a wide story behind each of it, envisioning WLE not just like a photo competition — but as a space for sharing powerful ecological narratives behind the images. This includes highlighting the voices of contributors, contextualizing natural heritage through storytelling, and encouraging participants to document not only what they see, but why it matters. We aim to make it even more interactive by conducting some quizzes about the contest for the audience. |

| How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of CEE?
This proposal, in a quite interactive way, contributes to making Wiki Loves Earth more impactful by connecting visual content with meaningful ecological and human stories. It encourages a more conscious approach to documenting nature, helping Wikimedia projects become richer sources of knowledge for environmental awareness, education, and advocacy. Also, it’s a great chance for the Wiki community to dive deeper into the contest, get inspired by the meaningful stories, and even get some prizes for it! | |||
